THE Solomon Islands National University will take ownership of its new soccer field if it is completed by end of this year.
The current upgrade of the Solomon Islands National University (SINU) soccer-playing ground at Kukum Campus is anticipated to be completed by the end of this year 2022, according to National Hosting Authority Executive Director.
National Hosting Authority (NHA) Executive Director Mr. Christian Nieng told Raw Sports that the SINU Kukum field is part of an agreement between NHA, National Olympic Committee of Solomon Islands (NOCSI), and SINU to upgrade and improve its conditions for the University.
“The Kukum SINU soccer field is to replace the Panatina SINU campus soccer field which is now undertaken by the government for the upcoming 2023 Pacific games in Honiara,’’ he said.

“This is the outcome of an agreement between NHA, NOCSI, and SINU to replace the Panatina SINU field,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, he said the current upgrading of soccer fields within Honiara is part of the community field upgrade that NHA is doing on behalf of the Honiara City Council (HCC).
“The program is to improve the conditions of these playing fields as part of the community field upgrade we are doing for the Honiara City Council,’’ Nieng said.

He said that the other two HCC soccer fields to be upgraded apart from the SINU Kukum Campus field are the Kukum labor line and the White River soccer field.
