SOLOMON Islands Archer Georgianna Lepping is set to compete in her first XVII Pacific Games 2023 bronze medal finals in the women’s compound event, up against Ana Fifita of Tonga.
The archery bronze medal final is scheduled to begin at 8.30 a.m. at DC Park, east of Honiara.
Georgianna is confident in the work she’s put in over the past few days in the shoot-off competition, especially during training with her coaches, having made her debut and first stint in archery for the country.
Georgianna Lepping is the first ever Solomon Island archery athlete to win a match at an internationally recognized Pacific regional games.
The young medal hopeful defeated her Samoan opponent in the 15-arrow match and advanced to the semi-finals with an incredible display and will now aim for the bronze medal today.
She has thanked her teammates, coaches, and family for their support of the Solomon Islands team in archery.
“I would like to thank my team, the local coach, and our team’s technical coach, Jarryd (Australia’s Head Coach of Rogue Archery), for his unwavering support during the months leading up to the Games in the Solomon Islands archery competition.
“What keeps me going is also my family’s unwavering support throughout this sporting journey,” she told RAW SPORTS.
In addition, she expressed gratitude to Eliza Archery for providing bows in the last seconds before the Pacific Game 2023 began.
