THREE clubs from the Solomon Islands will proudly represent the nation on the regional stage in major OFC competitions this year.
Henderson Eels Women’s Club, Central Coast FC, and Mataks FC are ready to take on the best the Pacific has to offer in what promises to be an exhilarating year for Solomon Islands football.
Henderson Eels Women’s Club
Henderson Eels is aiming for a strong showing at the OFC Women’s Champions League, which will be hosted in Tahiti in May 2025. After clinching back-to-back Solrais Women’s Premier League (SWPL) titles, the team enters the competition with momentum and confidence.
Last season, the Eels achieved a league-high 15 wins from 18 matches, finishing five points clear at the top. Their debut at the OFC Women’s Champions League last year saw them claim a 2-0 victory over Avatiu FC from the Cook Islands but fall short against PNG’s Hekari United FC and Vanuatu’s Tafea FC. This time, they are determined to build on that experience and push for an even better campaign.
Central Coast FC
Central Coast FC returns to the OFC Men’s Champions League after topping the domestic league with an impressive 53 points and just a single loss all season. Guided by coach Jacob Moli, the team has its sights set on leveraging the home advantage as Honiara plays host to the tournament in March.
This marks their second regional appearance, following their debut in New Zealand during the 2021/2022 season.
Central Coast FC is primed to make a statement on home soil.
Mataks FC
Dominant in the SIFF Super Futsal League (SSFL), Mataks FC continues to set the benchmark in futsal. After securing a consecutive league title with a seven-point gap, the team will represent the Solomon Islands at the OFC Futsal Men’s Champions League in Tahiti this November.Under the guidance of coach Francis Lafai, Mataks FC will look to improve on their runner-up finish last season and reclaim regional pride. Their consistent performances have made them a force to be reckoned with in Pacific futsal.
SIFF this year looks forward to continuous support towards the country’s representatives in reaching the competitive level and development of the game.
