Honiara rugby coach Leslie Puia has credited his team’s discipline, commitment, and hard work for their championship-winning performance at the 2026 Solomon Games.
Speaking after the grand finale, Puia said the victory was well deserved and reflected the dedication his players showed throughout their preparations.
“This win is not by luck or by chance. We deserve it. I have seen the effort the boys have put into training,” he said.

Puia admitted his side struggled to find its rhythm during the first half of the final but praised the players for their determination to turn the match around after the break.
He said the team regrouped during halftime, returned with greater intensity in the second half, and produced a strong performance to secure the win and claim the rugby title at the 2026 Solomon Games.
Puia congratulated his players for their commitment and resilience, saying their hard work throughout the tournament had paid off with a well-earned championship.
Honiara defeated Rebel 22-12 in the grand final claiming the men’s Rugby Sevens gold medal at the 2026 Solomon Games.
