THE 2022 Honiara School-Based Table Tennis Open Ranking competition organized under the guidance of the Honiara Table Tennis Association ended yesterday with excitement, competition, top rankings, fun, and prizes.
Held at the Honiara City Council’s newly constructed court facility next to Multipurpose Hall in Honiara, the 3-day competition which started from 4 to 6 July involved student players and para-athletes competing in singles, and doubles competitions.
Furthermore, there was no shortage of outstanding performances. The competition allowed coaches to put the skills they have been learning about tournament organization into practice.
Notably, the inclusion of para events was greatly received with the local Para athletes keenly snapping up the opportunity to put their skills to the test.
The President of the Honiara Table Tennis Association, Kevin Olea thanked the Development Bank of Solomon Islands (DBSI), Global Vision, and Sol Rice for sponsoring the prizes.
He said that without their generous support the event would not have been possible.
The finals were played in the Men’s Singles, Girl’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, and Girl’s Doubles events.
