THE Winner of the 2021 Sir Peter and Lady Margaret’s Kenilorea’s Christmas cup tournaments is Raea’o football club.
The 2020 Cup holder regain their tilte in today’s grand final against the determined Tawanaora Football club.
The Boys in Maroon recieved $15,000 cash prize, a winning trophy and gold medals following their 1-0 over determined Tawanaora FC.
The Boys in Red, Tawanaora Football club took away $10,000 cash prize and silver medals for the second place.
Host Club Hautahe Football club finished on the third place with a cash prize of $7,000 and bronze medals while Hunanawa FC settled on the 4th place with $5000.
The golden globe award goes to Michael Hatai of Hautahe FC and the Golden Boot goes to Jeff Makai of Masupa FC for his five goals in the tournament.
The fairest team prize goes to Onesuruia FC while the man of the match goes to Richie Koimani of Manawai FC.
Meanwhile for Netball competition, St Michael Hunanawa women netball club have also regain their title for the second time in a row.
The two times champions walked away with $10,000 cash, a winning trophy and gold medals after defeating Hauharii in the Netball grandfinal at Hautahe village on Saturday 1st January, 2022.
Hauharii Netball Club settled in the second place with $7,000 and silver medals, host Hautahe with $5,000 cash and broze settled on 3rd place and Hauhato settled in the 4th place with $3000 cash prize.
Speaking to Raw sport J.B Naohena confirmed around 6-7 thousands people were part of this Christmas tourney.
” 24 soccer teams means, one soccer team is around 30 players. Host community and nearby community account for 5-6 thousands players or more,” said JB Naohane.
“So we might be estimating people coming is seven to eight thousands,” he said.
