LOCAL para-athlete, Robert Alban says he is optimistic to make his name in the Solomon Islands para team to represent the country in the 2023 Pacific Games in Honiara.
Robert, who is born with a disabled left arm said he aims to satisfy selectors of the high-performance training program held at the Solomon Islands National Institution of Sports (SINIS) grounds.
He is currently undertaking the high-performance training program at the SINIS grounds which aims to select potential and final para-athletes to represent the country at the next year’s Pacific Games.
Robert joined the para-sports in 2021 after he was motivated by his elder brother to join the para-sports development program in Honiara.
“If I have the opportunity to qualify for team Solomon Islands based on my performance, nothing should stop me from fulfilling my dream to compete against the best athletes on my home soil.
“It is a rare opportunity and for now, I am working extremely hard in all my scheduled training,” he told RAW SPORTS.
He acknowledged his family, coaching team, and fellow para-athletes to be part of his sporting journey.
