DURING the XVII Pacific Games 2023 in Honiara, Dean Ngatulu, a dedicated Solomon Islands Red Cross Society (SIRCS) volunteer, takes center stage as a crucial figure in the first aid department, demonstrating leadership and commitment in ensuring the safety of participants and spectators alike.
Dean, a first aid instructor, and his team of volunteers provided lifesaving skills and assistance to spectators at the Friendship Hall during the Sol2023 Pacific Games in Honiara.
As a Team Leader during the Pacific Games 2023, Dean emphasized the importance of the Red Cross’s involvement in major events such as the Pacific Games and the organization’s dedication to providing medical aid as a top priority in order to prevent casualties.
“At the Solomon Islands Red Cross Society, our main goal is to make sure that everyone participating in events like the Pacific Games is safe,” Dean told RAW SPORTS. “Emergencies and accidents can happen, and it’s our responsibility to handle them right away to prevent any harm.”
Dean later emphasized that maintaining the public’s health was of utmost importance and that their station, appropriately called the Front of House, was vital in providing first aid to any casualties that occurred during the games.
“I’m happy to report that, from the start of the games until the finish, everything in our block went remarkably well.
“No serious cases were reported near the Friendship Hall’s front door,” Dean said, praising the team’s coordinated efforts.
Dean expressed his appreciation to team members and co-workers for their commitment and collaboration during the Pacific Games.
“The Red Cross volunteers worked together to ensure that their responsibilities were successfully carried out, creating a secure and safe environment,” he said.
In an expression of gratitude, Dean thanked the Solomon Islands Medical Team for giving the young volunteers this priceless chance to expand their horizons and improve the community.
