The Minister of Home Affairs Hon. Isikeli Vave Jnr has visited the EMTV Headquaters in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, and met with the Company’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Silas Matoli on Monday 10th November 2025.
EMTV is PNG’s premier commercial television company. It is owned by PNG TeliKom which also operated B-Mobile Company in Solomon Islands.
Minister Vave’s visit and meeting with EMTV was purposely to explore and examine the potential of sports through the media and television platform. The emphasis of modern IP based televisions that is currently using internet has much potential in its accessibility to broader viewers. This aspect in itself is a factor needed to boost this process especially in the service delivery and its monetizing. The Minister also went into discussion to further explore the process of broadcasting rights and licensing that sports institutions can interact with TV service providers to promote sports, and enhance economic returns.

Such partnerships in the media platform has high possibility to keep the viewers informed on sporting issues and promotions, and also generate revenue through the channels that are allocated for that purpose. The television platform has greater potential for Solomon Islands businesses and other institutions to thrive.
Minister Vave appreciates the opportunity to learn new business opportunities that the sports sector can explore using modern technology, the internet and the television platform.
Hon. Vave’s discussion with the CEO of EMTV is an opportunity that can open further business prospects not only for the sports sector in Solomon Islands, but also other businesses that can thrive through the digital conduit.
Hon. Vave’s was accompanied to the meeting by his Permanent Secretary Mr. Jeffrey Deve and the Solomon Islands High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea His Excellency Mr. William Soaki.
The Minister and his delegation is in Port Moresby to attend the 4th Edition of the MSG PM’s Cup (that opened on Sunday 9th November) and also the MSG Sport Officials and Ministerial Meetings that will happen this week.
