The United States Embassy in Honiara has donated 120 footballs to the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF), reaffirming its commitment to supporting youth development and sports in the country.
The footballs were officially handed over by United States Chargé d’Affaires Dan O’Hara to SIFF President Donald Marahare during a ceremony at the SIFF Head Office in Honiara.
The donation is expected to support football development programs across the country, particularly at the grassroots level, by providing much-needed equipment for young players and community-based activities.

Speaking during the handover, SIFF welcomed the contribution, noting that football remains the most popular sport in the Solomon Islands and plays a vital role in promoting teamwork, discipline, respect, and unity among young people.
The federation said the additional footballs will strengthen efforts to increase participation in the sport and create more opportunities for aspiring players, especially boys and girls in communities throughout the country.
President Marahare expressed appreciation to the US Embassy for recognising the important role football plays in youth development and community engagement.

The handover also highlighted the growing relationship between SIFF and the United States Embassy, demonstrating how sport can foster friendship, strengthen partnerships, and support positive social development.
SIFF extended its gratitude to the US Embassy and Chargé d’Affaires Dan O’Hara for the generous contribution and looks forward to future collaborations aimed at nurturing young football talent and advancing the game throughout the Solomon Islands.
