The Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) Just Play Department has commenced a grassroots coaching training program at Onemae Home Stay in West Are’Are, Malaita Province.
The program, now underway, brings together three representatives from each of five participating communities, Waisurione, Hauhui, Tawaimare, Heo and Rate.
For many of these communities, this marks the first time a structured football coaching initiative has been delivered at their doorstep.
The SIFF Just Play initiative focuses on encouraging children and young people to engage in football while promoting healthy living, teamwork and positive community values. Through the training, participants will gain essential coaching knowledge and practical skills they can use to guide children and youth in their respective communities.
Community members have welcomed the program, acknowledging SIFF’s commitment to recognising the importance of youth engagement in sports and creating opportunities for development at the rural level.
The training is viewed as a significant step toward strengthening grassroots football culture and opening pathways for young players to grow their skills and confidence.
Communities have expressed their gratitude to SIFF for bringing the program closer to rural families and investing in the future of children through football.
