GUADALCANAL Head Coach Jackson Namo dedicated the dramatic 2021 Youth Solomon Cup tournament final triumph over the weekend to the people of the Guadalcanal province.
The Guadalcanal Hornets U-16 trumped Choiseul Kuvojo 4-0 to raise the trophy of this year’s Youth Solomon Cup tournament.
“We dedicate this win to the Guadalcanal people,” said the Namo who guided Hornets to an overwhelming and impressive victory over Kuvojo in the weekends final.
“I’m happy with the win after I have been with the province for three previous consecutive U-16 tournaments; the players and their families including Guadalcanal Football Association (GFA) have put in a lot of effort and today they’ve been rewarded.
“In football, you can lose, but the important thing is always to jump back and never give up. So I really thank the boys, they deserve it…and yes our win is dedicated to all men, women and children of Guadalcanal and therefore, I also want to thank God for making it happen,” he told Raw Sports.
Guadalcanal Youth Development officer, Joachim Rade later told Raw Sports that he’s also extremely happy to have taken up the responsibility in the youth development aspirations including preparations of Guadalcanal youths in this year’s Under-16 Youth Football Championship.
“Despite faced with challenges over the years, the win has truly indicated a positive sign of youth football development in the province.
“We have been unlucky over the years and especially to win major trophies, however, our victory signifies that we are getting there, and now the fruit of youth football development is now emerging,’’ he said.
Joachim said the province has gone through some difficult times, especially at the provincial level where Guadalcanal’s participation in football competitions has been criticized.
“I am pleased with the boys as they deserve to win this year’s Youth Solomon Cup tournament – This year’s team is fairly represented since it’s comprised of players from all around the province,’’ Rade said.
