SOLOMON Islands Rugby Union Federation (SIRUF) together with its regional counterparts are gearing up for the month of September – dedicated as the 2021 Women in rugby month
SIRUF Women in rugby Development Officer Sarah Buka confirmed that the month’s annual celebration will kick off starting September 1st at the Town ground rugby stadium
With the theme ‘Oceania Unstoppable Women in Rugby’ the celebrations will coincide with a women’s rugby 7s competition end of this month Augus.
“SIRUF will join the celebration to organise and host trainings, awareness talk, Festival for schools within Honiara and Women’s rugby 7s competition at the end of the month,” the SIRUF Development Officer Ms Buka confirmed
Six Honiara based clubs are targeted to be part of this event, they are;
Royals
Avaiki
Diesel
Islander sisters
HHH
SOSA
Buka, however welcomes interested additional teams to participate
SIRUF will facilitate a one day awareness training on Safe guiding and Gender Inclusion on Wednesday 1st September as one of its highlight activities
The training will be in collaboration with the Ministry of Women, Youth and Children Affairs (MWYCA).
