SOLOMON Islands begin its adventure for its historic hosting of the Pacific Games 2023 with the official launching of the Mascot design entry.
The National Hosting Authority (NHA) made the announcement early this week
“Get set to create history by designing the Mascot for the 2023 Pacific Games!
“The 2023 Pacific Games—to be hosted in Solomon Islands in November 2023, started the process today (Monday September 6) of creating a Mascot that common look and identify with the Games,” NHA press statement reads
“The National Hosting Authority is seeking expressions of interest from artists and the public for the design of the mascot. One artist will be chosen from the submissions to finalize the concept of the mascot and work with a design team to make the mascot come alive.
Robert Iroga, the Chair of Media and Communications for the Pacific Games Organizing Committee stated that the Mascot needs to be authentic and imaginary, inspirational, fun, vibrant, positive and energetic.
The theme for the 2023 Pacific Games is “Challenge Celebrate and Unite”, so it must also be sporty, adventurous, and friendly. The mascot will be the face of the Games and will be used to excite children and adults across the country about the Games.”
Iroga noted that with the two year to go date before the Games just around the corner on Nov 19th, “We want to use that date to launch the Mascot. He urges families, artists, and students from across the country to come up with a conceptual design of a mascot that will capture the spirt of all Solomon Islands.”
The winning artist will receive a commission fee as outlined in the Entry information.
The deadline for entries will be Sept 30th at 5:00 pm.
