The Solomon Islands Tennis Federation has extended heartfelt appreciation to all sponsors, donors, supporters, and community members whose contributions made the 2026 Independence Fundraising Gala a resounding success. The Federation described the event as a significant investment in the future of tennis in the country.
The gala brought together government representatives, corporate partners, tennis families, and supporters with a shared purpose: raising funds to develop young tennis players and expand opportunities for the sport nationwide.
The Federation was honoured by the presence of the Minister for Home Affairs, Hon. Fr. Maelanga, who attended as Guest of Honour and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting sport and youth development.
In a statement following the event, the Federation thanked its distinguished guests, sponsors, donors, corporate table hosts, coaches, parents, volunteers, and the wider tennis community for believing in its vision of growing the sport and nurturing the next generation of athletes.
President Michael Leong reminded guests that the evening symbolised more than fundraising.
“Tonight is not simply about raising funds. It is about investing in opportunities and ensuring that every child who picks up a tennis racquet has the chance to learn, grow and reach their full potential,” he said.
The Federation also acknowledged the dedication of its Fundraising Committee, whose weeks of planning ensured the smooth and successful delivery of the event.
Young tennis players remained at the heart of the gala’s purpose, with the Federation reaffirming its commitment to providing pathways for children to develop their skills, compete, and pursue their sporting ambitions.
Every ticket purchased, raffle prize donated, corporate table hosted, and dollar raised will directly support junior tennis programmes across the country, strengthening grassroots development and expanding access for aspiring athletes.
Concluding its message of appreciation, the Solomon Islands Tennis Federation thanked everyone who continues to believe in the future of tennis and pledged to keep growing the sport by investing in children, families, and communities throughout Solomon Islands.
