MARIST Football coach Patrick Miniti praised Southern United’s performance in their 1-1 Telekom’s Super League draw at Lawson Tama Stadium over the weekend.
Alford Kanahanimae scored the equalizer on Saturday afternoon scoresheet – on the 91 minutes of extra time to put Southern United on 16 points (1oth position) of the Telekom’s Super League (TSL) ladder.
“Well, what can you say it’s a draw maybe we should have a better result but in the end, it’s a 1-1,” Miniti said in his post-match interview with Raw Sports. “So I credit Southern United for keep believing in themselves, and in the end, they scored in the last few minutes of the match.
“Southern United is a good team and gave us a good fight. They are quite a good team with good combinations upfront, and so I credit to them.”
Marist had struggled in their previous matches through the two seasons after they played 21 matches, conceded 8 losses and 7 draws. They are currently on 16 points (8th position) and they will play their final match against the TSL table leader – Central Coast on this weekend – Sunday 21, at 4 pm, Lawson Tama Stadium.
“We will work hard on our basics, and to work on our mistakes especially on our finishing, especially to get more goals in our final match this weekend against Central Coast,” Miniti said. “I think we have to give a good game to the Central because they are the leaders at the moment, so we should give them the much respect they needed.”
