SOLOMON Warriors supremacy in the Telekom S-League (TSL) continue on the records as they salvaged a point coming from behind to draw 1-1 with Central Coast FC in a historic showpiece for the first time at the new National Stadium.
Coming in for the title clash, the Franco Ne’e side only needed a point for a back-to-back feat, and a stunning Alvin Hou equalizer in the second-half earned them a straight eighth title – finishing with forty-eight (48) points.
In a drizzling evening with a vibrant atmosphere the main match of the season kicked-off with both sides showcasing their prowess. Barrie Limoki made history as the first player to score at the stadium displaying composure from a brilliant turn to slot home from close range.
The second forty-five minutes was a do-or-die situation for Warriors, finding their fate when Hou’s perfect finish affirmed.
“My boys fought till the final whistle, and we achieved what we came for and I’m proud of the players,” Warriors Coach Ne’e expressed in a post-match.
Sharing the points Central Coast edged out Waneagu United hopes for a Champions League playoff on goal difference while Warriors with a point separating the two.
It will be a rematch next year for the two-legged playoff to represent the country at the OFC Champions League competition.
