Solomon Islands football club Solomon Kings made history in the OFC Pro League, winning their opening match thanks to a goal from Japanese forward Sota Higashide. The goal not only secured the club’s first victory in the regional competition but also marked a memorable debut for Higashide.
Speaking exclusively to RAW SPORTS, Sota said his aim was always to help the team win.
“I was watching from the bench and felt that I could score a goal, so I thought about entering the game with confidence,” he said.

The international player said crossing the sea to join Solomon Kings was an important step in his career. “This is my first experience playing in the OFC Pro League and for the team. It will add credit to my soccer life from now on,” Sota explained.
He also shared his goals for the season, both personal and for the team. “My personal goal for the rest of the season with the team is to be number one in the league and to play the most attractive football in the league,” he said.
Sota took a moment to address the fans, expressing his pride in the historic moment.

“It is an honour to witness the historic moment of Solomon Kings. I will do my best in our next game to win, and I am looking forward to it,” he said.
Playing as a forward midfielder, Sota proved to be a game-changer for Solomon Kings. His goal not only earned the team its first win in the competition but also showed his potential to make a big impact in the league.
With his debut goal and confident attitude, Higashide is set to be a key player for Solomon Kings this season. Fans will be watching closely as he continues his journey in the OFC Pro League.
