THE Solomon Islands Bodybuilding Federation is expected to host a two-day National Bodybuilding Championship 2023 at the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport High-Performance Centre.
The Championship will feature bodybuilders from various clubs in Honiara competing in the various weight categories for the top medals and trophies in arguably the most anticipated event on the domestic calendar of bodybuilding ahead of the Pacific Games 2023 in Honiara.
The weight categories to be competed in includes 60kg, 65kg, 70kg, 75kg, 80kg, 85kg, 90kg, 95kg, and 100kg. Whilst the Championship is open for other bodybuilding clubs to register and compete.
Besides the trophies and medals, the Championship aims to scout and identify potential bodybuilding athletes to represent the Solomon Islands in this year’s Pacific Games in November.
Likewise, the event is also to create an avenue for current and new bodybuilding athletes to compete domestically and also to help the federation to identify the final squad of bodybuilders in preparation for the 2023 Pacific Games.
Solomon Islands Bodybuilding Assistant Coach Andrew Noel told RAWSPORT that the current 30 members of the bodybuilding training squad will also compete with various bodybuilders from various clubs in Honiara at the National Bodybuilding Championship 2023.

Noel said once the national bodybuilding squad is finalized they would then have a chance to tour Australia for training before the Pacific Games 2023.
“We made a few achievements especially from the Zoom coaching classes through Coach Simon and the oversea coaches, which gives us insight into our training.
“We usually do our train at the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS) under the 4 to 6 weeks shred workout program for the upcoming competition in September.
“The squad is looking forward to the Championship and the boys are hard on their training,” he said.
